GMOS in Wines

If you thought that the only man-made, genetically-modified crops to worry about are used in food rather than in wine production, think again. Scientists created the first genetically modified vine in the early 1990s and have created several species of genetically-modified yeasts in order to make the natural process of fermentation more predictable - not just for wine but beer too. How can you be sure you are avoiding GMOs in wine, beer, or any other product for that matter? You can't, unless it's certified organic. Why, GMOs are banned under every organic certification programme in the world.
