  The
Golborne Grove, former Golborne House, at Golborne Road, is located at
the northern end of Notting Hill near the famous 60s listed building, Trellick
Tower. Split over two levels, the ground floor houses the main bar area
whilst upstairs is a private function room. The interior is a mix of second
hand furniture and well-chosen design classics; an eclectic mix of chairs,
retro 60s leather sofas and 1920s Venetian mirrors sit alongside contemporary
urban photographs of the local architecture. |

Golborne Grove is an oasis of calm in an otherwise unpromising area. The
Grove is generally regarded as one of London’s finest gastropubs (www.restaurantguides.co.uk).
Just about the most perfect place for lounging your weekend away (apart
from Jude Law’s bed). The beautiful staff, sumptuous food and leather sofas
mean you never have a reason to leave. Week-nights retain this chilled
feel and are great for catching up on gossip and first dates – if you can
keep your eyes off the bar staff. (www.itchylondon.co.uk).

Gastro-pub is the neologism coined for ventures such as Golborne Grove.
A down-at-heel pub patronised finally by only a few good ol' boys who have
seen better days is resuscitated, beautified a stainless steel cooking
area becomes the natural extension of the bar and tandoori-flavoured crisps
are jettisoned in favour of grilled merguez sausages and mash served with
a puree of celeriac and a tomato chilli salsa. Is this progress? In one
way, but I was pleased to be reassured that there are still some down-at-heel
pubs nearby where the displaced drinkers can sit over an aptly named pint
of bitter. (Evening Standard Sept '99).
First floor Function Room available
for party bookings, conferences, workshops, birthday celebrations, corporate
lunches, meetings and disco nights every Friday and Saturday.
